Maryrose Monroe

Founder, Guide

My name is Maryrose and I was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  We Midwesterners are known for being some of the friendliest people in the world. I learned from my parents how to entertain friends new and old and learned from their experiences. When I was young, I was lucky enough to travel with my family and discover the world.

Since I was old enough to remember, I have had my eyes open for adventures, festivities, events and unique experiences and of course eateries of all kinds as well as taverns, pubs, clubs and cantinas (as bars are known in Mexico). Living in London for thirty years allowed me to travel extensively.

I have always returned from my travels eager to share my new-found knowledge with others. Mexico has held a special place in my heart since I was a teenager, not just for its history, culture, and breathtaking beauty, but especially for the warmth of its people. Now, nestled in the heart of Huatulco, Oaxaca, I’ve found my heaven. Join me and allow me to introduce you to some of the treasures of Bahias de Huatulco.

Why we do what we do

Our raison d’etre (reason for being) is to curate unique, local, cultural and culinary experiences. We bring together a global community where individuals from diverse backgrounds share, learn and create lasting memories.

We believe that Huatulco’s wonderful variety of things to do and places to eat can be overwhelming when new in town. We have developed our tours to cut through the noise and deliver an optimized journey to make the visit of our guests worthwhile and memorable.

Our tour leaders speak both English and Spanish and know this area by heart. They will make our guests welcome and feel like a local.

We want to make every guest feel genuinely special, and leave feeling like a Huatulqueño.

All emotions are beautiful when you travel, and our goal is to make it a force for good (as it should be).

“…if you’re looking for something unique and local, this is it.”
